~ 2004 ANZAC SERVICE ~

Students, parents and friends, please be patient while this page loads. It has many lovely images so be assured that the wait will be worth your while!

As in past years, our Service commenced with "Abide With Me", a musical arrangement penned especially for this occasion by Mr Peter Younghusband and featuring fellow teacher Mr John Verbeek and students Michelle and Robert Stephenson.

Brianna and Charlie were our hosts and they looked so smart and spoke beautifully.

For our class involvement, we sang the Rolf Harris song "Two Little Boys", in recognition of those fine young men from the First World War's Lighthorse Division.

Michelle played "The Last Post" while Adrianna lowered the flag to half mast, reminding us all of the countless lives lost. Following the silence, School Captain, Reece Stewart spoke "The Ode" and Michelle then moved on to "Reveille", the call for all soldiers to awake.

As a visual tribute, pairs of children carried wreaths and walked solemnly to the flag pole to the strains of "Deep Peace", particularly moving  music based on a Traditional Gaelic Blessing. Bill had previously reminded us of the words.

One student from each class then presented a poem, appreciating the hardships and brave deeds during war or struggling to understand why things had even come to this.

The Choir then presented their plea for world peace and harmony by singing the very thoughtful "We Are One".

Our Service concluded with a more formal version of "Advance Australia Fair".

Many thanks go to Pom for his continued support, John, Michelle and Rob for their fine musical input, especially Michelle with her beautiful playing of "The Last Post" and "Reveille" and Helen, Sally and Lin for the lovely wreaths.
