~ ANZAC SERVICE ~

Parents and friends, this page will take a little longer to load because of the photos, but be patient - the wait will be worthwhile!

Our ANZAC Service was again a memorable event, perhaps even a little more special this year, as it led into a Mothers Day Morning Tea. The Service commenced with an Instrumental Ensemble featuring Alex and Mr Younghusband, joined by past students Jarrod and Alice, playing "Abide With Me".

Georgia and Aaron were our presenters. They looked so smart and spoke out clearly and confidently.

Brianna gave a moving Bali tribute to the strains of "Bali Hai", while Jack lit three candles, one for the innocent victims, one for their grieving loved ones and one for the island itself.

Our song of peace was the lovely "Lay Down Your Arms", where a soldier eventually puts down his weapons to ensure his baby's safety.

Jarrod played "The last Post", leading us into the minute's silence, broken by Jake reciting "The Ode". Jarrod then played "Reveille", the call for all soldiers to awake.

Bill reminded us of the words to "Deep Peace" before our wreath-bearers carried the wreaths to the foot of the flagpole.

Readers from each class then presented children's messages of peace, which were also added to the memorial.

We concluded our Service by singing the National Anthem with pride and Georgia and Aaron thanked Jack's grandfather Colin for coming.

Parents and friends were then invited to join us for a celebration of Mother's Day at "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea", raising money for the Cancer Foundation.

Everyone enjoyed the scones as children from each class presented little tributes to their Mums. Each special lady went away with a pastel tissue flower, presented with "I Believe in Love" playing in the background. It was truly a lovely morning!
