2007

Anzac Service

Luci and Jahdal hosted our 2007 Anzac Day Service and a grand job they did too. They spoke with great warmth and sincerity. Flynn stood to attention at their side, proudly wearing his sister's uniform, Private Dannielle Beale from Holsworthy Barracks, New South Wales.

We gave a short history of that enduring symbol the slouch hat, its shape and insignias, before singing and marching in 'fair dinkum' mateship to "The Brown Slouch Hat".

Luci reminded the gathered assembly of Australia's involvement in wars both past and present and children from Years 1 to 7 read their thoughts on war and peace.

Jahdal then asked for everyone to stand for the most important part of the Service. We listened to "The Last Post" as Paige lowered the flag to half mast and then bowed our heads in silence until Brennan spoke "The Ode". This was followed by Reveille, the call for all soldiers to awake.

Mrs Gray, Mrs Fitzmaurice and Ms Hovey  made our wreathes and these were carried to the flagpole by representatives from each class while we listened to "Deep Peace". Leighton firstly reminded us of the words to this traditional Gaelic prayer set to music.

The DPS Choir then performed their own special call for peace, "Let There Be Peace On Earth".

Our Service was concluded by singing a more formal and longer version of "Advance Australia Fair".

It was a most respectful and memorable service. Thank you everyone for your involvement.
