YEAR 3 HOME

Our Bat Assembly

Everyone was very excited and there was certainly a buzz as we prepared ourselves for the big performance. What a shame Mikayla was sick! She knew her part so well and was really looking forward to hosting our Assembly with Holden. Fortunately for us, Alice stepped in at the last moment and did a great job. Here we are trying to keep 'a lid on it' in the classroom beforehand.

Holden and Alice got proceedings going at the front.

Then Mrs Baker snuck the bat patrol to the back of the Assembly area for their big entrance...

...and the Batdance began. We did our crossovers really well and it looked terrific now that we were all in black.

The baby bat

Screamed out in fright,

"Turn on the dark,

I'm afraid of the light."

Mr Smith really did do his homework and was about to 'poach' all of our Bat Facts so we had to call him to a halt. Alice (what a great day she was having) and Kelston were our first Merit Award winners for 2008. Tayne and Brodie also received their Student Council badges-of-office.

Then we did our best for bats, presenting pertinent facts and hopefully, changing some people's misconceptions about these truly wonderful creatures.

The bats had the last word with their poem and flew off. The kids came back minus wings and masks for the first community song of the year, "Simon Says" then it was time for the big photo shoot.
