~ Year 3/5/6 Buddy Assembly ~ Our "Trust & Co-operation" Assembly was fantastic. Everyone knew exactly what they had to do and did their separate jobs superbly. Mrs Mitchell and Mr Bush were very proud of us. We'd been exploring much about ourselves and each other in Drama Activities and wanted to demonstrate what we had achieved, beginning with individuals and pairs and ending with the whole group. First we showed how easy it was to lift someone up if they made themselves a tight, obliging shape and trusted their lifters.
Back to back sitting and standing becomes easier when you work with your partner or partners, rather than fighting against them.
It is possible to untangle a chain of hands by looking carefully then unraveling.
Group lifts, under adult supervision, are fun and look impressive.
Knee sitting requires the total trust and co-operation of the whole group or you get the dreaded domino effect.
Line Ups need everyone to think, look, interact (in silence) and co-operate.
The second part of our performance was a tribute to friendship and mateship. Each class recited a poem to their buddies then came together to sing "Lean On Me".
The Community song was the stirring "Eye of the Tiger" and included the warm up and boxing drills of sparring partners, Zac and James.
Give yourselves a big pat on the back, buddies!
