Mr Biddiscombe's Last Assembly Our last Assembly for 2006 was a sad one, as we said farewell not only to Mr Biddiscombe but also Mrs Vivian. Our hosts for this special event were Miss Simpson and Mr Wilson and very grown up they looked too.
The Miss Aherns had earlier escorted the special guests to comfortable chairs at 'ringside'.
The Choir and Mrs Mitchell's class performed a song carefully selected for Mr Biddiscombe, a rock tune released when he was just 'sweet sixteen' called "Spirit in the Sky". Now this song goes for just over five minutes so it was no mean feat to keep that many feet in rhythm and ending with the Macarena step. Way to go, guys!
Miss Simpson and Mr Wilson then asked for their 'special helpers' to assist them in handing out the last Merit Awards for 2006.
The Miss Aherns took over and presented Merit Awards to the classroom teachers, Miss Walker and Mr Biddiscombe.
The children were reminded that Mrs Vivian was also leaving us. Some piano music was the cue for a presentation from her class and it caused several tears I'm told.
Then this year's staff came forward for a final musical tribute to Mr Biddiscombe. Sung to the tune of "Johnny B Good", their song was called "Barry You're Good".
Just as he has given so many rewards over the years, a child from each class presented him with a reward. It was a beaut way to end our last Assembly.
