~ Using our 'Smarts' ~ Everyone knows that what some people find easy, others find difficult and what some people enjoy, others find a real chore. Instead of having one intelligence, some people claim we have as many as 'eight'. Here they are:
Along with our good buddies from Year 5/6, we took a 40 item test to assess our 'smarts'. In most cases, the results were not all that surprising. You can take the test too if you wish, just CLICK HERE! Next we searched for a topic to use as a focal point to demonstrate our 'smarts'. On the very day we announced "Sam's Island" as our topic, we learned of his death. Initially it brought everything to a standstill but then we thought, what better way to turn sorrow into a celebration. The children met in their 'Smarts' groups and brainstormed ways they could respond. As they discussed their ideas, they naturally gravitated towards someone, found a partner and took responsibility for a task. Then they commenced planning in earnest.
We are well into the production stage now and the children are very busy, as you can see. When we are done we will hold a public viewing, possibly in the evening as well as the day, to allow community members to attend. So keep your eyes peeled for:
