The Choir, Mrs Mitchell's Year 3/4s and Mrs O'Shea's Year 5/6 class entertained the Shire's Senior Citizens at their annual Christmas Concert last Wednesday. Fortunately for us, the venue was the Dampier Bowling Club, just a short skip and a hop down the hill. A small group of Mrs O'Shea's girls went ahead earlier to assist in decorating the hall. When we arrived at 11, the Seniors were seated and looking forward to the entertainment.
You better shape up, young Harri! Then we performed another of our favourites, "Wind Beneath My Wings", which we learned for Mother's Day. The kids sang it beautifully and, as usual, it produced a few tears. Next on our program was our own Dampier Idol star, Georgia, singing "Don't Stop Moving".
We had a change of pace then. Mrs O'Shea's choral speaking group presented two poems for the Seniors, the first the very humorous "To Santa, from Billy", followed by Santa's reply, then the more serious piece, "The First Christmas".
The Choir concluded the program, firstly with two of Mrs Mitchell's favourites, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "Little Drummer Boy".
Then everyone joined in for "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". Santa arrived and wished us a Merry Christmas and we delivered some special hand made gifts and cards to the Seniors. It was a beaut morning for young and old alike.
It was time for us to go but the same helpers stayed to serve the Seniors their Christmas dinner and a grand job they did too. Everyone was most impressed!
