~ Wickham Science Challenge Final ~

After weeks of making and modifying cars, excited finalists from Dampier got to test their vehicles out against schools from around the Pilbara at Karratha Centro last week.

Our Year 2s and 3s ran their cars down a ramp and the Year 6s raced their elastic band powered models on the flat. It was a real 'cut throat' affair for the Juniors, as allowances couldn't be made for collisions of any kind with so many vehicles competing.

Congratulations Flynn, who came second in the Year 3 category, and Bronte, a clear winner for the Year 6s and overall winner of "Best Car". Dampier Primary School was also named "Best School", which can be a source of pride for all those who didn't get to compete, because your models were so fantastic too!

Bronte collecting her own prize then the Overall winner's prize for Dampier.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Des Prismic and Wickham Primary School for hosting this event. We had great fun making our vehicles, learned heaps about movement (and the forces that impede it) and the final at Karratha certainly showcased our work in Science to both our parents and the public.

Congratulations, Wickham!

Oval Callout: Wow, meccano!

And congratulations Dampier!
